JAKA CHAIR TO SPEARHEAD US OPERATIONS
by MMMarin
JAKA Chairperson
Madame Cristina C. Ponce Enrile is set to spearhead the operations of
CRINIER, Incorporated, a soon to be established U.S. affiliate wholly-owned
by JAKA Investments and assisted and guided by JAKA Food Corporation that
will make available JAKA Food products to the different Filipino communities
in the United States.
This move will mark an important milestone in the company's history
as it expands its business to the U.S. The establishment of CRINIER will
expand the company's U.S. operations to include the production and sale
of JAKA Food products not only to the Filipino community, but also the
larger Hispanic community in the United States.
"The Filipino community of over two million represents a sizeable
potential market for JAKA food products in the United States," said
Madame Ponce Enrile."Not to mention the greater Hispanic community
of some forty million people that essentially share the same food preferences
as that of our fellow Filipinos.
CRINIER is expected to expand its operations to include the off-shore
manufacture of JAKA's food products in the United States should the initial
trading venture prove successful. This will allow CRINIER to produce JAKA's
proprietary food products at a much lower cost compared to manufacturing
the same in the Philippines and shipping it to the United States, and
enabling the company to distribute its proprietary food line at a much
more competitieve price structure.
It has long been a tradition for the company's principals - particularly
that of the Chairperson, to take personal charge of the company's new
foreign ventures. It is good feng shui that served the company well in
the past, and will hopefully continue in bringing good fortune in the
future.
We wish you all the best on this new endeavor, Madame Chairperson!
SIGMA GROUP GETS SERIOUS ON DRUG PREVENTION
by ELBasilio As part of its plan to boost its image of having
a clean and healty security complement, the Sigma Security Services Inc.
huddled together for a seminar against drug use and its prevention.
The
seminar, titled "Drug Awareness and Prevention" was held on June 6, 2003
at the JAKA Center. The seminar was conducted by the DrugCheck Philippines
Inc. (DrugCheck) as represented by its sales manager, Ramon Yu, and was
participated by the SIGMA Security Group led by Capt. Gregor Mendel A.
Panelo.
During the seminar, Mr. Yu presented to the participants the different
types of illicit drugs and their harmful effects. The signs and symptoms
that a user exhibits for the different stages of drug use was also discussed,
as well as the preventive measures against drug use.
Under the regulations of the PNP - Security Agencies and Guards Supervision
Division, all security guards are required to take drug tests from accredited
drug testing clinics such as the DrugCheck as a requirement for getting
or renewing their Security Guard License. Capt. Greg Panelo is happy to
report that all Sigma security guards tested so far this year have yielded
negative on their drug test results.
SSSI ESTABLISHES SECURITY TRAINING ACADEMY
by MMMarin
The
Securities and Exchange Commission recently approved the application of
Sigma Security Services, Incorporated to establish a wholly-owned security
training academy. Incorporated as the Sigma Institute for Security and
Protection Training, the academy will provide basic security training
for those interested in seeking employment as security guards and advanced
bodyguard training for those intending to pursue a career as protection
officers.
According to Property and Security Group Head SVP Percy Lukban,"The
training academy will not be just as support unit to our affiliate security
agencies. It will be a financially independent income generation profit
center that will also cater to the security needs of agencies other than
Sigma and Blue Legion." Based on the business plan developed for
training academy, its facilities will be made available to third-party
security agencies seeking to improve the efficiency levels of their own
corps of security personnel.
According to the Philippine Naional Police, there are about 300,000 security
guards employed by some 16,000 security agencies in the country today
- of which some forty percent are actually untrained.
The newly established training institute is in the process of being accredited
as a technical and vocational education training center with the Technical
Educaton and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and licensed security
training school with the Security Agencies and Guards Supervisory Division
of the Philippines National Police (PNP-SGSD).
