Happy 30th Anniversary!
by SGAure

The celebration of the 30th anniversary of JAKA Investments Corporation (JIC) was a roaring success! JAKA originally started on August 8, 1974, and because the date fell on a Sunday, the celebration started early on. Every year, HRM would think of themes to complement the anniversary. This year, the theme was “JAKA… Big Leap!”

Last August 2, 2004, employees of JIC and members of the JAKA Adventure Club commemorated JAKA’s founding anniversary by undertaking a tree-planting project in the effort to help protect the environment at the Splendido Taal Golf Course. The activity was dubbed as “Thirty trees for thirty years” - one tree for every year of JAKA’s corporate existence. A time capsule containing JAKA memorabilia ( Infocus newsletters, Aviso newsletters, resume of JAKA executives and personal letters from Sen.Juan Ponce Enrile and JAKA Chairperson Cristina Ponce Enrile) and newspapers was also lowered on the Splendido grounds. The said time capsule will be opened fifty years after by the future grandchildren of the principals. Afterwards, a sumptuous lunch was served a la fresco. In the afternoon of the same day, members of the Philippine Outback Hunters Association had a blast practicing their shooting skills at the Tierra del Fuego Shooting Range.

The tree-planting activity was spearheaded by JAKA President and CEO Katrina Ponce Enrile, Mr. Percy Lukban, Senior Vice President for the Property Group and Mr. Armando Ponce Enrile – “Ka Toti”, Splendido Taal Golf Course Director. Former Senator Loren Legarda, a staunch environmental advocate, was also present to grace the occasion. Cong. Victoria Reyes and Sta. Lucia Executives Mr. Exequiel Robles and Mr. Buddy Encarnado were also present. Mayors, councilors and other local officials from Tagaytay and Batangas also helped in making the affair memorable.

On August 5, JAKA Adventure Club also conducted a fund-raising campaign by holding a bingo. Winners included: Royden Stagen ( Php 2,000.00), Nestor Oafallas (Php 1,500.00), Sarah Enriquez (Php 1,000.00), Felix Meneses (Php 500.00) and Flor Dastas (Php 500.00).

To cap the week-long anniversary celebration, HRM scheduled a whole day of fun and games last August 6.

The celebration started with a Mass facilitated by Fr. Kitz Hernandez from San Isidro Parish. Mass sponsorship was assigned to the Corporate Strategic Cell, while the JAKA choir graced the entire mass with their angelic voices. Another part of the event was the opening and blessing of the JAKA Fitness Center with KPE and other executives and employees cutting the ceremonial ribbon. During the program proper, KPE delivered her Opening Remarks and Message for the employees. Ever since she headed the realm of JAKA, she would never fail to give the employee messages of encouragement to continue with their undertakings, allowing them to help in achieving the stability of the company. Afterwards, the employees all applauded the presentation of the JAKA choir, who prepared a special presentation. The members of the choir interpreted the song “I Say a Little Prayer for You.” After the song rendition, the fun games started.
